A downloadable game for Windows

This basic mini game prototype was developed for the QUT unit, IGB100: Game Studio 1 - Mini Game Development.

Grove of Grief is set in the depths of a forest that’s been recently infested with monsters. The player is a young wizard of the woods, whose main goal is to survive and clear the forest of as many monsters within the allocated time.

The player is provided with only has a short amount of time to clear as many monsters from the forest. As they are only a young wizard, they have a limited amount of magic to drive away the enemies. Casting spells will require the expense of magic, making players have to consider whether it’s worth taking a shot at an enemy. To recharge their energy, players will need to seek out and collect mana crystals whilst avoiding the movements of deadly monsters.

The first swarm of enemies are large bat-like creatures that require several hits to defeat. These creatures are able to seek out the player, however, due to their large size, they generally approach the player slowly. Over the course of the level additional enemies will appear. These creatures appear in large swarms and are much faster, however, they will not seek out the player and aren’t as resilient to magic.
